Overview
The International working group on comparative mapping and transferable marker development was initiated during the 4th International Rosaceous Genomics conference in Pucón, Chile in March 2008. The main purpose of this working group is to provide a forum for discussion between groups working internationally in the field of marker development and comparative mapping and to act as a means of generating collaboration and cooperation in an attempt to minimise duplication of effort and to maximise resource utility within the rosaceous genomics community.
To date, 59 individuals have registered an interest in the working group and between them, they are developing a mission statement and a governance structure for the initiative. The first formal update of research concerning the development of transferable markers and comparative mapping within Rosaceae will be given at the First International Symposium on Biotechnology of Fruit Species organised by the International Society for Horticultural Science, which will be held in Dresden, Germany from the 1st - 5th September 2008.
A list of researchers and their specific research interests, along with their contact details is being drawn up, and these can be accessed via the participantsand research interests page.
