CommentsMost widely planted of New England by 1852. Most widely planted in the US until late 1920's. Most important in NY from 1910-40's. Fruit: large, winter tough, smooth bright red with white stars; flesh crisp, firm, juicy, aromatic yellowish. Adds spiciness and aroma to cider. Excellent keeper. Tree: vigorous; biennial but can be regulated by pruning and thinning. Triploid. Ripens late Sept. to Nov. depending on location. Additional LIT.CIT. 1992-93 H. Apple.
